BC JACKPOT WINNER BETTING ON CANUCKS
May 30, 2011
Vancouver, BC – He may live in a small BC fishing community at the South End of Discovery Passage, but there is nothing small about the discovery David Rennie made Friday night when he checked his LOTTO MAX ticket.
"I took the ticket to a local gas station," said the Campbell River resident. "When the clerk checked it the big screen started flashing 'JACKPOT WINNER!' I shook my head, I just couldn't believe it."
Rennie matched all seven numbers to win a $35.7 Million jackpot, the second largest in BC history.
Needless to say, the 48-year-old's luck has become the talk of the town.
"People have been great," says Rennie. "Everyone's been congratulating me. My boss called too...to see if I was coming in to work!"
But before planning his retirement, the steel worker has more pressing plans involving wife, Sandra Morgan, and son, Kyle, and they hope it involves more winning.
"Tonight, we're all going to the hockey game to hopefully watch the Canucks eliminate the Sharks and move on to the Stanley Cup Finals," said Rennie. "When I was in Las Vegas a few months ago I put fifty dollars on the Canucks to go all the way, so I'm looking forward to winning again!"
Canucks fans certainly hope his luck continues.
