The $40,000 winning PowerBall® PowerPlay® ticket sold in Rhode Island for Wednesday's drawing has been claimed.
A Johnston woman claimed the $40,000 prize on her 40th wedding anniversary. She and her husband plan to celebrate with a vacation. They play the same numbers using their family's birthdays for different games. She and her husband also plan to help their children with college loans.
Convenience Plus at 1501 Atwood Ave., Johnston, sold the winning ticket.
Additionally, the $24,000 jackpot for Rhode Island’s own progressive jackpot game, Wild Money, was hit last night.
Fairlawn Mobil on Smithfield Ave., Lincoln sold the winning ticket. The prize has yet to be claimed.
PowerBall® drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 11:59pm and aired locally on WPRI-TV.
Saturday's estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $80 million.
The Wild Money drawings take place three times a week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights, live on WPRI-TV at 7:29pm.
Saturday's estimated Wild Money jackpot is $20,000.
