$100,000 WIN MAKES FOR WHIRLWIND AFTERNOON
May 22, 2012
Monday was a whirlwind for Nancy Millspaugh of Marion. After lunch, Millspaugh’s day took a turn she never saw coming. When she stopped for something cold to drink at Circle K at 901 East Bradford Street, she never imagined that by dinner time she would be posing for pictures with a $100,000 check from the Hoosier Lottery.
“I was thirsty,” said Millspaugh. “I just wanted something to drink.”
While she was getting her cold drink, the lifelong Hoosier decided to do something she only does once every few weeks. She purchased a Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off ticket. That ticket, a Wild Cherry Slots Scratch-off, sent her afternoon in a whole different direction.
“I don’t know what to think yet,” said Millspaugh. “It’s happened so fast.”
As she waited briefly for her check to print at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis, Millspaugh talked about the experience and disbelief that accompanied her big win. After revealing the $100,000 prize on her ticket, she immediately called her husband, Morrie, and son, Dan, to meet her at a nearby Steak ‘n Shake to get their opinion on the status of the ticket. They agreed that the ticket sure looked like a winner. They took the ticket to a Hoosier Lottery retailer who advised that she also thought the ticket looked like a winner, so the trio headed to Indianapolis to claim the prize.
“It’s kind of like an ache in your chest,” said Nancy Millspaugh.
“It’s nerve-wracking!” said Dan Millspaugh.
